The Fortress Roof Restoration Process
STEP 1: INSPECTION
Our qualified and professional tradespeople will perform a thorough roof inspection before proceeding, ensuring all materials and possible repair areas can be identified.
STEP 2: COLOUR SELECTION
We work with you to help you pick your new colour scheme. In particular it’s important to consider how your new roof colour will blend with other elements of your house such as fencing, window frames and so on.
STEP 3: PROPERTY PREPARATION
We take all possible steps to ensure your property is protected during the clean, repair and painting process. Where necessary we can use gutter tarps and other shields to protect your property.
STEP 4: REPLACE ANY BROKEN TILES
Our initial inspection identifies any cracked or broken tiles that may need replacing. We can source and install the correct style of tile to match your existing roof.
STEP 5: HIGH PRESSURE CLEANING
A high pressure clean removes built up dirt and grime and is an important part of ensuring your roof restoration is performed correctly.
STEP 6: RE-BEDDING AND RE-POINTING
Ridges are re-bedded where necessary. We take care to ensure all of the ridges are correctly aligned at the same height. The entire roof is re-pointed with a flexible compound that is designed to withstand normal construction movement and prevent cracking.
STEP 7: SURFACE PREPARATION
Surface preparation is extremely important and the roof is thoroughly cleaned at high pressure with a minimum of water wastage. Anti-fungal and algae retardant is used where necessary.
STEP 8 – ROOF SEALER
It is important to seal the roof prior to painting. Our non-solvent based sealer penetrates and encapsulates the tile, completely sealing it. The sealer is readily absorbed into the tile and acts as a “key” to accelerate and enhance the adhesion process when the roof coating is being applied.
STEP 9 – ROOF COATING / PAINTING
Two coats of durable acrylic roof coating are applied to create a protective membrane which is built to stand up to the harsh Queensland climate. The product is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and safe for rain water collection.
